Bot. [a. Gr. τραγοπώγων (Theophr.), f. τράγο-ς he-goat + πώγων beard.] A genus of Composite plants of which the common wild yellow-flowered English and European species, T. minor and pratensis, are known as Goat’s-beard, and T. porrifolius with rose-colored or purple flowers is cultivated for its esculent root under the name of SALSIFY.
