In some animals, e.g., lemurs, a process consisting of a fold of mucous membrane under the tongue.
1878. Bell, trans. Gegenbaurs Comp. Anat., 553. In many Prosimii and Chiroptera, as also in the platyrrhine Apes, there is a process below the tongue which is sometimes double; this is the so-called sublingua.
