[Anglicized form of STROMBUS.] A gasteropod of the family Strombidæ, esp. a wing-shell of the genus Strombus.
1835. Kirby, Hab. & Inst. Anim., I. ix. 282. The large strombs of the Caribbean sea have eyes furnished with iris and pupil.
1863. Wood, Illustr. Nat. Hist., III. 367. The Strombs form a large genus, containing about sixty species.
