1583. Fulke, Def. Tr. Script., i. 37. It is either a plaine solœcophanes..., or a corruption crept out of the margent into the text. Ibid., 43. He which vseth Solœcophanes in Greeke committeth not a solœcisme.
1727. Bailey (vol. II.), Soloecophanes, that which seemeth to be a Solœcism, (or Impropriety of Speech) and is not.
