[Native African name.] A species of anthropoid ape discovered by Livingstone near Lake Tanganyika.
1870. Livingstone, Last Jrnl., 24 Aug. The soko, if large, would do well to stand for a picture of the Devil.
1875. Zoologist, X. 4359. The soko is so cunning, and has such sharp eyes, that no one can stalk him in front without being seen.
