Snowdon was occ. used as a name for Stirling, but Jamieson cites statements that the designation of the herald was derived from Snowdoune castle of the county of Rosse: cf. his note on Barbours Bruce (1820), III. 410 (= IV. 181), and the entry in his Dictionary s.v. Snawdoune.
