Chem. [f. prec. + -INE5.] An alkaloid, isomeric with quinine and quinidine, from which it is obtained by heating with glycerol.
1853. L. Pasteur, in Pharmac. Jrnl., XIII. 374. When any salt of this base [quinine] is heated, a new alkaloid is formed, isomeric with it . To this new base I give the name of quinicine.
1857. Miller, Elem. Chem., III. 275. Quinicine is freely soluble in alcohol.
