[mod.L.; the name is found in Gesner.] A genus of gamopetalous plants of N.O. Verbenaceæ, remarkable for their bright flowers.

1882. Grant Allen, in Cornh. Mag., Jan., 24. Fritz Müller noticed a lantana in South America which changes colour as its flowering advances.
