[Maori.] The name of several species of Coprosma, a genus of Australasian trees and shrubs (N. O. Rubiaceæ), some of which produce edible fruits.

1876. in Trans. New Zealand Inst., IX. 545 (ibid.). I have seen it stated that coffee of fine flavour has been produced from the karamu.
