sb. pl. [f. med.L. Ascii, also used in Eng. (a. Gr. ἄσκιοι, f. ἀ priv. + σκιά shadow) + -AN.] Inhabitants of the torrid zone, who twice a year have the sun directly overhead at noon, and then cast no shadows.
