2. An Exchequer officer who examined or audited the sheriffs accounts. (The office was abolished in 1833.)
1641. Termes de la Ley, 165. Forrein Apposer is an Officer in the Exchequer, to whom all Sherifes and Baylifes doe repaire by him to be apposed of their greene waxe.
