Min. [f. Franco (see below) + -LITE.] A variety of apatite found at Wheal Franco in Devonshire in stalactitic masses.
1850. Philos. Mag., Ser. III. XXXVI. 134. On Francolite, a supposed New Mineral. It consists of small masses of irregularly formed and aggregated crystals, apparently hexagonal prisms of considerable lustre, and covering the matrix with a sort of mammillated surface.
