1824.  Levy, in Ann. Phil., Ser. II. VII. 62. I have chosen for it the name of forsterite, in honour of the late Mr. Forster, who has so much contributed to the advancement of mineralogy by his extensive connections in that branch of science in every part of the world, and by having laid the foundation of one of the finest private collections, now in the possession of Mr. Heuland.
