1. Bot. A name applied by some to the column formed by the united filaments in monadelphous plants, or a more or less columnar portion of the receptacle bearing several anthers.

1870. Bentley, Bot., 250. When the union takes place so as to form a tube or column, the term androphore has been applied to the column thus formed.
