sb. pl. Zool. [prop. mod.L. adj. pl. neut. (sc. insecta), a. Gr. ἀμετάβολα pl. neut. of ἀμετάβολος, f. ἀ priv. + μετάβολος changeable.] A sub-class of Insects, consisting of those such as the Lice and Spring-tails, which do not undergo metamorphosis.
