Min. [f. L. ambrosius ambrosial + -INE; or ? f. amber.] A resinous mineral of eocene age, related to amber, found in the phosphatic beds near Charleston, S.C., which gives off on fusion an agreeable balsamic odor. Dana, Suppl. (1872).
