Bot. [f. Gr. ἄλλος other, different + PHYTOID, f. Gr. φυτόν plant + -OID.] A separated vegetable bud differing from the plant from which it originates.
1858. Carpenter, Veg. Phys., § 397. When the phytoids are of the usual form they are called isophytoids, whilst the differing form is called an allophytoid.
