Min. [mod. f. (Ger. in 1873) Gr. ἄλλ-ος other, different + ὀφίτης serpentine, f. ὄφις serpent.] A hydrous silicate of the Margarophyllite section, consisting chiefly of silica, alumina and magnesia.
