Phys. [a. Gr. ἀκινησία quiescence, f. ἀ priv. + κίνησις motion, f. κῑνέ-ειν to move.] Loss of the power of voluntary movement; paralysis of the motor nerves. (Also called akinesis, not according to Gr. analogy.)
