1751. Chambers, Cycl., Affronté, in heraldry, is understood of animals borne in an escutcheon as facing, or with their heads turned toward each other.
2. Looking frontwise or towards the beholder.
1766. Porny, Elem. Herald. (1787), 151. If the Figure is set with the face looking front ways or forwards, this Position is denoted by the term Affrontee.
