1793. Statist. Acc. Scot., VII. 524. Straw cazzies which were used as sacks for carrying Victual. Ibid., X. 23 (Jam.). Straw creels called cassies, made very compactly of long oat straw.
1880. Times, 25 Sept., 8/1. A peculiar basket made of plaited straw and called a cassy. The cassy is strapped to the shoulders in such a way as to leave the hands free.
