[f. Gr. καλύβη little hut.] One of a class of early saints who passed their lives in huts.
1729. Lives of Saints, III. 65 They allowd him [St. Alexius] to raise a little Hut for his own use under the Staircase; from this Circumstance of his Life he receivd the Surname of Calybite, from a Greek Word which signifies a Hut, or close Cell.
