Min. [ad. Ger. kalk-sinter, f. kalk lime (a. L. calc-em; see CALC-) + sinter slag.] A hard crystalline deposit from springs that hold carbonate of lime in solution.

1830. Lyell, Princ. Geol., I. 200. It [one of these springs] has formed, by its incrustations, an elevated mound of solid travertin, or calc-sinter.
