Min. [Named in 1835 from Bromley Hill, near Alston in Cumberland + -ITE.] A double carbonate of lime and baryta: the same as ALSTONITE.
1868. Dana, Min., 698. Most English mineralogical authors have set aside Thomsons name [Bromlite] although the earliest and of British origin, for Breithaupts [Alstonite]. There appears to be no sufficient reason for this.
