sb. pl. Zool. [late L. acephala, a. Gr. ἀκέφαλα adj. neut. pl. = headless (sc. animalia).] Name given (by Lamarck) to one of the two great divisions of Mollusks. The sing. is supplied by ACEPHAL or more commonly ACEPHALAN.
